Product details

RN2903 LoRa 915 MHz Development Kit

The Microchip RN2903 LoRa Development Kit is a complete system that provides all the components to create a Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) LoRa network for development purposes. An external LoRa network connection is not required, making prototyping simpler.

Provided is a full-featured LoRaWAN Gateway Board with 6 channels, two LoRa Motes based on the Microchip RN2903 LoRa Modem and a Windows compatible LoRaWAN Server Application.

The LoRaWAN Gateway Board provides a simple base station for a test local LoRa network, providing communication between the evaluation LoRaWAN Server and the LoRa nodes. Communication with the Windows-based host running the LoRaWAN Server Application is over Ethernet, with power supplied via USB. An on-board LCD Display and push buttons allow key information such as configuration settings, traffic statistics and firmware data to be viewed and navigated with ease. Configuration of the Gateway can be saved to a micro-SD card.

The included LoRa RN2903 915 MHz Motes are portable LoRa nodes. For static testing USB power can be used, with the option for battery power being available for mobile testing. Integrated is an Ambient Light Sensor and Thermistor to demonstrate Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) communication. The telemetry can be transmitted as per a user-defined schedule or initiated on-demand via a push button on the Mote. An OLED display provides feedback on connection status, sensor values, downlink data and acknowledgements.
