RS Pro Europlug to IEC C7 Power Cord
From RS Pro a high quality and durable power cable assembly or power cord for connecting an appliance to a mains power supply. This power cord is fully equipped with a 2-pin Europlug mains plug on one end and an IEC C7 socket on the other for connecting into a piece of equipment. The power lead features an integrated strain relief that provides additional protection and support to the connection to prevent damage due to excessive bending
What is a Power Cable Assembly?
Power cable assemblies are electrical cables that are pre-terminated with a plug or socket connector. Power cable assemblies can be terminated with connectors on both ends of the cable, or just one. Depending on the application, there are various types to suit a wide range of requirements.
What is a Europlug?
This cable assembly is terminated one end with a moulded Europlug (CEE 7/16) which is flat with two round pins. This plug is rated for voltages up to 250 V and for currents up to 2.5 A and is used for connecting low power Class II appliances to round pin domestic power sockets used across Europe
What is an IEC C7 Connector?
This power cord is terminated with a fully moulded IEC C7 plug which is used to connect the cable to an appliance which has an IEC C8 inlet. These connectors are also known as figure 8 or shotgun connectors due to their shape! C7 and C8 connectors have two conductors, a rated current of 2.5 A and a maximum operating temperature of 70°C. Both these connectors conform to IEC-60320 specifications laid down by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) to ensure the connector meets common global design standards
Features and Benefits
Flexible and durable H03VVH2-F flat Harmonised cable with PVC stranded wire core and PVC insulation and sheath
2-pin 2.5 A, 250 V Europlug
IEC C7 socket
Integrated strain relief for connection support and protection
Fully moulded connectors for strength and durability
What is This Cable Assembly Used With?
IEC C7 mains cables are for use with IEC Class II appliances and are commonly used in domestic audio, video and radio equipment and double insulated power supplies. Applications include:
Cassette recorders
Battery/mains operated radios
Battery chargers
Laptop computer power supplies
Video game consoles
IEC and International Leads
A range of electrical appliance connecting leads, the majority of which are terminated with connectors that conform to IEC 60320. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the international standards and conformity assessment body. The drawing illustrates the range of connector types offered within this section - The 'odd' 'C' numbers refer to a socket type connector - mains input - and the 'even' 'C' numbers refer to a plug type connector - the appliance inlet.
